Countries along the Belt and Road connect to Tianjin

Tianjin province, China: A trip to Tianjin by mainstream media from various countries along Maritime Silk Road aims to tell a different story about Tianjin and embody the unique function of Tianjin in construction of One Belt, One Road.

The Tianjin tour was organised by domestic media and the Tianjin government, and invited over 50 representatives from home and abroad to pay a visit the city from August 9 to 11.

The opening ceremony of the mainstream media from various countries along Maritime Silk Road for touring Tianjin province.

A reporter of the Philippine News Agency Mr Jelly Musico, who was representing journalists from South Asia and Southeast Asia, said at the opening ceremony that Tianjin was a beautiful city.

Some interesting trivia and information would help us write more stories and promote this beautiful city to our respective countries.

“Since China is the world's second largest economy and I will not be surprised if China will take over US in a very near future, so we want to know more about the important roles that Tianjin has been playing to achieve a central government's objective of a moderately prosperous society,” he said.

“Because Tianjin is a coastal city and many Southeast Asian countries are surrounded with sea, we are interested to know how the Belt and Road's Maritime Silk Road could be used to further increase the trades between China and Asean countries that have a combined population of nearly two billion people.

“It is hoped our three-day stay here in this beautiful and prosperous city will help us get enough information to write stories and be of help, in our own little way, to the economic development and people-to-people exchanges among our countries.”

The first stop of the interview team is some playing fields of the upcoming National Game of China which will embrace its grand opening on 27th August and various individual events are already in full swing.

The Modern Pentathlon is comprised of shooting, fencing, swimming, equestrian, and running. Equestrian and shooting and running was held from August 3 to 6 in the Tianjin Goldin Metropolitan Polo Club (TGMPC) situated in Tianjin Hi-tech Area. The Northern Race Course of TGMPC was originally a horse polo field and the central grass filling was transformed into a sand field used for the steeplechase. Next to the steeplechase was the new shooting field.

Next stop is the landmark of Tianjin - Wudadao cultural tourist area. The media team also visited Tianjin Sports Museum seated in Minyuan, where they had a lecture on the history of Tianjin and its sports.

Located in the southern part of the downtown area, Wudadao district refers to the five parallel east-west districts named after five famous cities in southwest China, Chengdu, Chongqing, Changde, Dali, Munan and Machang, all together 22 roads generally known as “Wudadao” among the local people.
