The first day of the forum on September 25 saw many interesting topics including the economic war between the US and China discussed by Senior Fellow of Harvard University, Niall Ferguson and Professor of Economics of National School of Development at Peking University, Justin Yifu Lin.
Another topic on the first day was US President Donald Trump discussed by Chair of American Battle Monuments Commission, David Urban, who helped spearhead Trump’s 2016 campaign, and Bob Woodward, Washington Post Associate Editor and author of the new book “Fear: Trump in the White House”.
The forum also talks about the globalisation of music and the power of K-pop.
This year’s World Knowledge Forum was also joined by YouTube co-founder and CTO Steve Chen.
According to the World Knowledge Forum, immediately after the 1997 Asian financial crisis, the forum was launched in October 2000 after two years of preparation with the ambition to transform Korea into a knowledge-driven nation.
Since then, the forum has taken on the role as a platform for discussions to reduce knowledge gaps through knowledge sharing and promote balanced global economic growth and prosperity.
A total of over 4,200 global speakers and 46,300 audiences have participated since the first forum with the theme of “Shaping the New Millennium with Knowledge” in 2000, and the forum has now become the biggest knowledge festival in the world.
