Centre offering SEA Games merchandise opens
The Stadium Sports Centre at Chao Anouvong football stadium is now selling sports equipment, sporting apparel and merchandise affiliated with the 25th SEA Games.
The centre sells football, boxing, petanque and muay equipment, with all of these sports to be contested at the games in Vientiane in December. The centre also sells merchandise featuring the games' elephant mascots (Champa and Champi), official games clothing with the games logo of That Luang stupa, and other souvenirs.
A ceremony to mark the official opening of the centre was held last Monday and attended by Phetchampa Advertising Company representative, Mr Somphien Xayadeth, and President of the Thai Football Factory Sporting Goods Company (FBT), Mr Kamol C.
Manager of the Stadium Sports Centre, Mr Viengsavanh Sengchanh, said the centre will help to promote the upcoming games. The centre opened in 2006, but only began to sell SEA Games clothing and merchandise this year.
Mr Viengsavanh said the centre is the first venue in Vientiane to offer official SEA Games merchandise and plans to supply the goods to other provinces.
Spectators at the games will be able to buy official games clothes at sporting venues during the event. However, people can now buy clothes and other items to show their support for their nation in the lead-up to and during the games.
The centre, which is under the management of the Lao National Sports Committee, is an official supplier of FBT products. FBT has produced more than 7.5 billion kip (about 30 million baht) worth of clothing specifically for the games. FBT will also provide sporting equipment and uniforms to the committee and Lao athletes for the event.
The centre sells shorts (32,000 kip), short sleeved shirts (50,000 kip), jackets (108,000 kip) and other clothes adorned with the SEA Games logo or mascots.
