| Laos, Malaysia, Singapore to write SEA Games rules
The rules for the 25 th Southeast Asian Games will be written by representatives from Laos , Malaysia and Singapore , following a meeting of the SEA Games Sports and Rules Committee in Vientiane this week.
The officials will formulate the rules for the competition organising and events programme and present them to a SEA Games meeting in November, along with a provisional list of sports to be held at the event.
Sports and Rules Committee Chairman, Mr Souvannarath Saignavong, attended the meeting with senior officials from sports committees across Southeast Asia .
Mr Souvannarath said the national sports committee would like to hold more than 25 sporting events to satisfy the requests of all countries, but the committee did not believe this would be possible.
He said many countries were interested in assisting the Lao National Sports Committee to host the SEA Games, and believed Laos would be able to host the event successfully.
The committee is also hopeful that Cambodia will be able to host the SEA Games in the near future, something it has yet to do.
Mr Souvannarath said Laos would be able to sell the television rights for the SEA Games. The official broadcast will be a joint effort between Lao National Television and RSbs International of Thailand.
Last April's first SEA Games meeting approved 25 sports for the event which are: swimming and diving, wrestling, track and field, badminton, rugby, boxing, football, futsal, golf, judo, karatedo, petanque, sepak takraw, billiards and snooker, target shooting, Muay Lao, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis, boat racing, shuttlecock, wushu, pencak silat, volleyball and beach volleyball.
