Business graduates ready for workplace

Comcenter College in Vientiane held its annual graduation ceremony on Friday, presenting bachelor degrees to 151 students.

The event marked the end of the college's fifth business administration programme. The college was established over 15 years ago and has presented more than 770 certificates and bachelor degree to graduates.

Business students at the college receive theoretical training, as well as gaining practical experience through working in businesses around Vientiane .

“This year's graduating class is very strong. These students are now ready and well equipped to become professional workers in companies and factories. They have all studied hard for the past two years,” said Comcenter College Director Mr Xaynhon Khammavong.

He said the graduates had proven themselves through years of rigorous study and had participated conscientiously in activities organised by the college.

“I am hopeful that these graduates will use their knowledge and abilities to improve and develop their lives and help raise standards in our country up to international levels,” Mr Xaynhon said.

Deputy Minister of Education Ms Sengdeuane Lachanthaboun was the guest of honour at the graduation ceremony and presented students with their degrees.

The event was attended by education officials, students and their relatives, friends and teachers.

Ms Sengdeuane encouraged the graduates to work hard in their chosen careers.

“This degree is only to show that you have finished your college days; it demonstrates theoretical learning, but the future holds many challenges for you, not just in theory,” she told students.

The deputy minister also encouraged the graduates to take up work in rural areas to assist in the development of the country, especially in the area of human resources.

“I hope you all will use your knowledge and skills to improve your life, society and to help your country develop step by step,” Ms Sengdeuane said in her address to the students.

One graduating student, M s Malaythong Chandala, said “I'm very glad and proud of my success today after studying hard for such a long time throughout my course.”

Ms Malaythong has been working for the Kolao Group in Vientiane and said her new qualifications complement the work she has been doing.

Comcenter College also offers a master's degree course in business administration.

Every year the number of students enrolled at the college increases by 8 to 10 percent.
