Asia-Potash Industrial Park in Khammuan attracts major Chinese investors
The Asia-Potash International Smart Industrial Park has emerged as a new hub for foreign investment, drawing significant attention from Chinese companies.The Asia-Potash International Investment (Guangzhou) Co., Ltd. on Saturday December 6, in cooperation with the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, held an Investment Promotion Conference in Shenzhen, China, to discuss the potential of the Asia-Potash International Smart Industrial Park.
The event coincided with the launch of the 10th five-year National Socio-Economic Development Plan and was the first investment promotion conference to be organized following the official announcement of the Decree on the Potash Industrial Park.
The investment promotion targets quality partners from around the world. Project agreements have already been signed on 16 industrial projects, with new investments estimated at US$1.088 billion.
It is expected that in the future the total output value will be US$1.828 million annually, based on an upstream project in the bromine chemical industrial chain, the chip-level metal materials project in the upstream chlor-alkali project, production of industrial silicon, potassium sulfate and compound fertilizer, and other important projects.

It has achieved remarkable success in expanding scale, revitalizing industry and upgrading production capacity, indicating the success of efforts to comprehensively upgrade the quality and efficiency of the industrial ecosystem in the Asia-Potash Industrial Park.
The conference was attended by Minister of Industry and Commerce, Mr Malaythong Kommasith; Governor of Khammuan province, Mr Vanxay Fongsavanh; Secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Youth Union, Mr Thongli Sisoulith; Vice Chairman of the Investment Promotion and Management Committee, Mr Bountheung Douangsavanh; Deputy Minister of Technology and Communications, Mr Saysana Sitthiphone; other Lao government officials and Chinese investors and business operators.
Potash is not only a mineral resource, but its production and use is also a national priority and the foundation of Laos’ industrial transformation strategy, Mr Malaythong said.

“Our goal is not only to extract and export, but also to transform important resources into high-value-added industrial products and create jobs, increase incomes, build modern infrastructure, and improve social welfare in Laos,” he added.To turn this vision into reality, the government enacted the Asia-Potash Industrial Park Decree, creating an attractive and competitive promotional policy framework, Mr Malaythong said.
In addition to various tax incentives, the Asia-Potash Industrial Park benefits from its unique location in Khammuan province.
Mr Malaythong said the government is not only building industrial estates, but also creating a strategic logistics hub at the intersection of the East-West Economic Corridor, with a new railway being built to connect directly to the northeast of Thailand, central Laos, and Vietnam's deep-water Vuong Ang port.

This new trade corridor will enable multiple modes of transportation to carry goods from the central ASEAN region to global markets.
On behalf of the Lao government, Mr Malaythong invited Chinese business leaders to invest and set up operations in Laos, saying the government will work with business operators and investors to deliver mutual benefits.
Khammuan province is rich in mineral resources and plans to become a modern industrial zone and an important energy and mineral processing base, Mr Vanxay said.
He expressed confidence that the new investment project would create a strong impetus for revenue generation for the government and the benefit of local areas.
He advised the Khammuan provincial government to facilitate investment within the framework of Lao laws, ensuring that investors can work within a safe and reliable investment environment to develop and expand markets and create new business opportunities.
The Asia-Potash Industrial Park's investment promotion project has been implemented and production is ongoing, Director Board Secretary of Listed President of the Asia-Potash International Investment (Guangzhou) Co., Ltd., Ms Liu Bingyan, said.

Leading quality enterprises are rapidly gathering in the industrial park and the positive effects of industrial consolidation are gradually becoming apparent. These achievements are possible thanks to the long-term attention and support of central and provincial governments, she added.
The company is committed to working with the Lao government and people to amass the most beneficial resources, secure the best enterprises and provide the most comprehensive support to develop the Asian Potash Industrial Park into a high-end potash chemical industrial cluster that is highly competitive in the ASEAN region, Ms Liu said.
The company will also support Laos' industrialisation efforts and add real impetus to Laos' economic development amid the transformation and upgrading of the global industrial chain.

During the investment promotion meeting, representatives of enterprises entering the industrial estate and executives from several financial institutions affirmed the potential “cluster development" created by the industrial park.
Ms Liu expressed a strong commitment to the continued provision of wide-ranging support to Asia-Potash and other businesses operating in the industrial park and pledged to jointly promote industrial cooperation and value-adding.
