KPL, VNA continue media development cooperation

Lao News Agency (KPL) has agreed to continue cooperation with Vietnam News Agency (VNA) to improve related sectors with their media development.
KPL and VNA on Tuesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed to encourage information exchange and human resource development between the two sides.
The agreement was signed by Director General of KPL, Mr Sounthone Khanthavong, and Director General of VNA, Mr Nguyen Duc Loi, witnessed by Lao Deputy Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism, Mr Savankhone Razmountry.
Under the cooperation, in 2018, the two parties will improve the quality of daily news gathering and photography, especially promoting solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two nations.
KPL will help VNA in distributing magazines, news and photos in Lao language as well as promoting its electronic newspaper through the website http:kpl.gov.la.
KPL will assist in offering VNA’s television news access to the Lao digital TV system.
Lao News Agency will provide convenience for VNA’s journalists during their work in Laos.
VNA also promised to assist KPL to upgrade its website. Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism, Mr Savankhone Razmountry, said the signing is one of the activities scheduled by the two countries to mark the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the 40th anniversary of the signing of the Laos-Vietnam Treaty of Amity and Cooperation.
To mark the occasion, the two agencies have also cooperated to hold a photo exhibition at the National Cultural Hall running from December 6-9.
According to KPL, the event opens opportunities for journalists from Laos and Vietnam to exchange lessons, improve their profession thus contributing to the promotion of the special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two nations.
VNA is a state-owned agency under the Vietnamese Government and functions as the official information channel of Vietnam, delivering official information and documents of the Communist Party and the State.
It provides information for party leadership and state management; gathers and publicises information through different media channels to people and organisations inside and outside the country.
