Grilled ribs on the menu at C+ Fruit Juice restaurant.

Grilled pork ribs, a tasty new dish for Vientiane

A wide array of food is on offer for anyone visiting the M-Park zone in Mixay village, Chanthabouly district of Vientiane, but the grilled pork ribs at C+ Fruit Juice restaurant have become a favourite with customers, especially the teenagers who frequent the area.
The grilled ribs have received a good response from local and foreign customers since the restaurant owned by Mr Vilaxay Lasavon or Khaek opened just nine months ago.
The restaurant is located near the National Culture Hall and Mr Vilaxay told Vientiane Times that the most popular items at his eatery are noodle soup (ramen), French fries with cheese, gyoza (Japanese pan fried dumplings) and grilled ribs.
Mr Vilaxay said he imports fresh pork ribs every day from neighbouring countries and then cooks them with a special sauce. The ribs are served on a wooden tray with French fries and sauce.
The ribs come in three sizes - small, medium and large - so that they can satisfy the demands of every customer.
“The ribs served at the C+ Fruit Juice restaurant differ from offerings at other restaurants because they are something new that was introduced just nine month ago,” he said.
“We clean and prepare the ribs before cooking them every day so that they taste fresh and delicious,” he added.
Most of the items on the menu are reasonably priced.
The price of a small serving of ribs is 50,000 kip, the medium serving goes for 95,000 kip and the large for 180,000 kip. Mr Vilay said he sells 10 wooden trays of grilled ribs every day.
Despite opening just nine months ago, the restaurant located in the central business district of Vientiane has become one of the most popular places for the town’s teens. It also serves a lot of drinks and Lao and international cuisine.
The restaurant provides a place for patrons to relaxed and content while enjoying their food in a modern-style environment.
It draws a wide variety of people, including government officials, private sector employees, city residents and visitors.
Mr Vilaxay said the restaurant has received a lot of interest since its opening and attracted many customers, with people expressing satisfaction with the menu and the service of the friendly staff.
The restaurant is open daily for lunch and from 5:30pm to 11:30pm for dinner.
