Spicy salmon salad a top choice with young diners

Spicy salmon salad (khoy salmon) is a popular menu item increasingly served at venues across the capital, consistently receiving positive acknowledgement from local and international customers alike.
Mixing local fish with specific condiments, spicy fish salads have been a staple Lao dish for a long time.
Adapting the dish from local fish to popular Japanese style salmon pieces has delivered outlets a highly sought after menu item.

Spicy salmon salad is proving a popular choice.

Salmon imported from Japan is expensive but increasingly popular with Lao people as it has health benefits and also tastes good.
Pull T Café serves the delicious and increasingly-popular spicy salmon salad.
Restaurant owner Mr Khonesavanhxay Vonglomdaeng (Kone) told Vientiane Times the dish was a favourite menu item, especially with families and teenagers.
The salad served at Pull T Café differs from offerings at some other restaurants because it is high quality, delicious, cleanly prepared and made fresh every day at reasonable prices to cater for both Lao and foreign patrons, he said.
Pull T Café only opened six months ago but is one of the most popular places for the town’s teens.
Mr Khonesavanhxay said he buys salmon from Japan, imported fresh every day via Thailand.
The restaurant is located in the central business district of Vientiane and serves up coffee, teas and Lao and international food in a modern style.
The restaurant provides a place for its patrons to feel relaxed and content while enjoying the food in a modern-style environment.
It attracts a variety of people including government officials, private sector employees and other city residents and visitors.
He said the venue had received a lot of interest in the six months since opening and has attracted many customers, with people expressing satisfaction with the menu and the service of the friendly staff.
The restaurant has 25 tables and can accommodate more than 100 customers.
Most customers are young people, especially students, and office workers.
One customer, Ms Phatsalapha Phothideth, said she had come for dinner with her friends and relatives for the first time and she loved the food and atmosphere.
There are also some art zones for taking photos, and folksongs from local singers are played.
Pull T Café is in an easy to find location in Huayhong village in Chanthabouly district.
The restaurant has a single floor and is designed in a modern style with a romantic atmosphere.
It is open daily for lunch and from 6:30pm until midnight for dinner.
