Vientiane bakery serves up Japanese delights

A special treat awaits you when you get a taste of original Japanese bread and cream puffs at Beard Papa’s at the ITECC Mall in Vientiane.
The open kitchen at this popular outlet will immediately give you confidence about the clean and wholesome bread, while the bright yellow façade will lighten your mood if you’re feeling tired after a shopping spree.
Once you go up to the second floor of the mall, you can see the shop on the right hand side, offering a variety of original Japanese-style bread that you can enjoy with your friends and family.

Original vanilla bread waiting to be served to customers.

The manager of Beard Papa’s, Ms Sengaloun Vongdeuangpheng, says the outlet opened in 2015 on the third floor of the mall to provide different types of bread, including original Japanese bread, to the young people of Laos.
“The fresh cream puffs have different flavours and we have an open kitchen that allows customers to see all the processes involved in making the bread and gives them confidence about getting clean and delicious bread,” she said.
Beard Papa’s serves bread, cookies, eclairs and cream puffs in several flavours such as original vanilla, green tea and chocolate, with prices ranging from 14,000 to 17,000 kip.
Ms Sengaloun said the bread and the vanilla cream puffs are favourites with most customers, who eat them there and then and buy some for their friends and families.
The shop moved from the third floor to the second floor earlier this month so that it can better serve its customers. To celebrate this move, the shop ran a special promotion that allows customers to “buy one, get one free” from October 1-3. This got a good response from local and foreign customers, she said.
The shop also has a special promotion for customers of different ages to try the mini size bread priced at 5,000 kip per piece. When you buy five pieces of mini bread, you get one free with the price being 25,000 kip for vanilla, and 28,000 kip for chocolate and green tea.
The cream puff with Japanese white peach flavour is especially recommended by the shop.
The breads have attracted people of different ages. Young people and their parents enjoy eating the bread and handmade cream puffs for which the ingredients are imported from Japan.
Ms Sengaloun said more than 200 breads were supplied on Saturdays and Sundays, while from Monday to Friday the shop can supply hundreds of bread items each day.
The shop is open daily from 9am to 9pm and also provides a free delivery service to customers who buy large orders. Call 030 4695723 or 020 9995 3145 for the free delivery service.
Beard Papa’s will open a new branch near the Khop Jai Deu restaurant by the end of this year so that even more people can sample its sweet delights.
