Charity team gives from the heart direct to rural communities

The Paiduaychai Haiduayhak volunteer team was begun by a normal everyday fellow who loves adventure, taking photos, and giving social assistance in rural areas.

He has a normal heart but he has bigger power after he became a hero of Lao youth and poor people for social assistance.

Mr Bounchan Khanthavong, or Mr To, aged 32, started the social assistance by himself before becoming head of volunteer teams under the name of “ Paiduaychai Haiduayhak ” a Lao youth group who love providing social assistance.

Aid items donated include motorbikes.

There are many volunteer teams for social assistance in Laos but there are few volunteer teams that started a volunteer team by themselves and used their funds to help poor children and local residents in rural area from their pure heart.

Mr Bounchan told Vientiane Times that he loves adventure, taking photos, and giving social assistance in rural areas. When he uploaded pictures about his work on his Facebook then the Lao youth group who loves giving social assistance expressed admirable words to him and appointed him to be Head of Volunteer teams.

Over the past few years, the team has handed over education equipment, clothing and other items to poor families in rural areas, and given office equipment to hospitals in rural districts, painted and refurbished old schools and the teacher's dormitories in Vientiane, Luang Prabang and other provinces.

Paiduaychai Haiduayhak team began operating around three years ago with just four or five volunteers able to travel to provide social assistance per time, and most of the volunteers are young people and students who loving giving social assistance.

Volunteers to join his team must be responsible, love giving social assistance, and be people who can adapt to rural environments and use their motorbikes for travel.

Paiduaychai Haiduayhak receive volunteers for 3-4 months at a time, use their motorbikes for travel and share their money together to buy fuel for travel, camp costs such as food and other expenses as well as hold correct travel authorisation documents from relevant authorities allowing them to travel everywhere..

The social assistance team has focused on handing over aid items to any house in rural area for poor families. Mr Bounchan also said he is very happy when he hands over aid items to children, and poor families in rural areas, especially when they say ‘Thank you” and the beautiful smile from them is the best encouragement to his heart, and he feels a connection to them after spending this time together.
