Popular Ting Cave in Luang Prabang province, which contain thousands of Buddha images, is now attracting more visitors than ever, with numbers more than doubling during the peak tourist season.

The Boun Pha That Phonh stupa festival will take place from January 27-30 in Xayphouthong district, Savannakhet province, when the province will announce the start of activities for Visit Laos Year 2018.

- Work resumes on enlarged Huaphan airport
Construction of Nongkhang airport in Xamneua district, Huaphan province, has resumed after a one-year delay following the contractor’s financial difficulties.
The project was given the green light in June 2013 when the government, represented by the Department of Civil Aviation, signed a contract with the Vietnamese Hoang AnhGia Lai Joint Stock Company (HAGL) worth more than US$74 million (about 616 billion kip). .. More >>>

- Govt upgrading transport links in Ngoy district
The government will spend more than 31 billion kip to build a bridge and improve 5km of a road in Ngoy district, Luang Prabang province.
A bridge 100 metres long and 9.5 metres wide will be built across the Vanh River to link Sobhoun and Meuang Ngoy Neua villages. A 21-km road will also be upgraded.
An agreement on the project was signed last week between the Luang Prabang provincial Public Works and Transport Department and a construction company from Vientiane. Under the agreement, construction will begin this month and is slated for completion by the end of 2019.... More >>>
