Vientiane authorities are preparing a big Boun Kong Khao (Great Rice Stack Festival) in Sangthong district to promote tourism in the capital city.
The event will take place in Yainachalern village and the official opening ceremony will run from today until January 14.
The Deputy Governor, Mr Phonsavanh Siliphan, responsible for overseeing the event, told Vientiane Times on Wednesday “The festival is one of the main activities in Vientiane to attract tourists for Visit Laos Year 2018.”.. More >>>

- Kasy Resort adds hot springs to list of local tourist amenities
The Hot Spring Kasy Resort has opened recently to provide various relaxing options for visitors to Vientiane province as they travel northwards following a stay in Vangvieng, the land of adventure.
Owner Ms Viengratee Vongpisar said the resort had been open since 2015 and drew visitors from Laos, other parts of Asia, and Europe.

- Road accident death rate falls in 2017
The number of people killed in road accidents across Laos dropped marginally from 1,086 in 2016 to 1,053 in 2017, but the number of accidents increased from 5,616 to 5,868 in the same period, according to the Traffic Police Department of the Ministry of Public Security.
The number of people injured increased from 8,912 in 2016 to 9,640 in 2017, while the number of vehicles damaged rose from 10,305 in 2016 to 10,379 in 2017. ... More >>>
