- Made in Laos fair postponed to July after fire damages venue
The 10-day Made in Laos exhibition, which was set to open on Friday morning, will now take place in July after a fire broke out at the Lao International Trade Exhibition and Convention Centre (Lao-ITECC) and engulfed over 20 stalls. Vientiane could have more than 1.3 million new trees this year as the capital carries out a plan to establish itself as a green city by extending tree cover at numerous sites. Director of the Vientiane Agriculture and Forestry Department, Dr Lasay Nouanthasing, said last week that based on information collected from various parties at least 1.3 million saplings would be planted this year as part of efforts to create a greener environment for the city’s residents. .. More >>>

Government officials and development partners met in Vientiane last week to discuss a draft decree on ethnic affairs and a public service users’ feedback survey, to determine how such surveys might be improved in the future.
