Tardxang waterfall attracts more visitors during Buddhist Lent

After Lao people across the country attended takbat (aims giving) ceremonies nationwide to welcome the beginning of Buddhist Lent (July 8), known locally as Khaophansa , they visited natural waterfalls to celebrate.

Tardxang waterfall is one of the most popular waterfalls because it's not far from the capital. The waterfall is located in Nawa village of Thoulakhom district, Vientiane province and on Road No 10.

Many tourists including locals and foreigners visited the waterfall last Saturday to celebrate the first day of Buddhist Lent. Around Tardxang waterfall are nice huts to rent and big rocks for visitors to enjoy their picnic. Most of the visitors are family and friends enjoying eating and playing in the water.

Tardxang waterfall is a tourist site still with pristine natural surroundings as it is still not overly developed and a good place for adventure for people who like doing that kind of thing.

The waterfall is easy to find and from Vientiane it takes around one hour to reach Nawa village by car.

After you reach the district, you have to drive through the villages of Safeu, Pho nkeo, Naphaeng until you reach Nawa, where the waterfall is located. Tardxang waterfall, is a further 2km and passing Hongphaeng bridge of Nawa villages you will see a small road on the right-hand side which is the enty to Tardxang waterfall.

Entry to Tardxang waterfall is just 20,000 Kip per car, which it will only collected fee during festivals. If there is no festival, people are not charged.

The walk up to the to p of Tardxang waterfall will take around 20 minutes, during which you will be surprised by the beautiful views of nature. The waterfall also has good places for your children to enjoy playing around in the water.

When you do arrive at the top of the waterfall, you will find nice views with an area set aside for swimming, while there is also a high area from which to enjoy jumping into the water. After a refreshing dip you will forget any tiredness following your walk to the top.
