Japan Foundation Asia Centre calls on all Participants to join the 2nd Regional Contest in Laos for the DigiCon6 Asia Awards open to all Lao nationals.

Indian scholarships

Embassy of India in Vientiane is announcing for Lao students for under graduate, post graduate courses and doctoral studies in Indian Universities (except medical/paramedical/nursing/physiotherapy/anesthesia/fashion courses) for academic year 2021-22. Applicants having good knowledge of English.

Indonesian scholarship

The government of the Republic of Indonesia is offering The Developing Countries Partnership (Kemitraan Negara Berkembang/KNB) Scholarship 2021 for Lao citizens. All applicants must complete the online application process through the website and get the recommendation letter from the Indonesian Embassy.

Asean-India research training fellowship

Korean speech contest

The Embassy of the Republic of Korea to Laos is holding a Korean speech contest to mark the 10th anniversary of the Korea-Mekong relationship. Applicants must be Lao or Korean citizens aged 13-35. The winner will receive a Samsung S21 Ultra mobile phone.

Asean PhD fellowship programme in India

The Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) invite scholars from Laos to apply to this programme. The IITs are world-renowned for their quality education and research output. If selected, you will be able to complete your PhD with funding from the
Government of India. The funding includes a monthly stipend and an annual research grant for up to five years of the PhD programme.

Ending plastic innovation competition

This is a competition initiated by the Norwegian government, Norad, and @undpvietnam which invites individuals and startup communities from Asean countries as well as from all archipelagic and island countries to take part in a competition to find solutions to ocean plastic pollution. Winners will have a chance to attend a 9-month acceleration programme and receive equity-free seed funding of up to US$72,000.

Free job training in Khammuan

Those aged between 15 and 35 years who have graduated primary school and wish to have an occupation to improve their living conditions are suggested to apply for free short training courses in Khammuan province. The courses will provide training for four professions –beauty salons, tailoring, cooking and indoor electrical maintenance. Selected candidates will get a stipend 620,000 kip a month along with free dormitory and study initials.

Japanese scholarship

Applications have been invited for the Japanese government’s fully funded MEXT Scholarship 2021. The scholarship’s categories include Master’s degree, PhD, undergraduate, college, technology, and specialised training college.

When: Applications for Master’s degree and PhD must be submitted by July 17. Applications for undergraduate and college must be submitted by July 24. This year, research students will be enrolled from October for 2021 while undergraduate, college of technology and specialised training college students will start from April 2021.

Textbook donation

People having old textbooks that they no longer use but which are still in good condition, are invited to donate the textbooks to the Vientiane secondary school. The books will be kept in the school library or shared with other schools that don’t have enough textbooks.

Free occupational training for women

Women aged between 16 and 34 years who are currently not working can apply for a free training course in wig making. Selected participants will join the 40-day course with free accommodation and meals. After training, the participants who graduate will be employed and receive a salary ranging from 1.2 million kip to 3.12 million kip with welfare measures such as training courses.
