Lao delegation tours strategic economic area in Vietnam’s Son La province

Leaders of Vietnam’s Son La province accompanied a delegation of the Lao Front for National Development (LFND) on a tour of industrial and livestock raising facilities, to share lessons in these fields of production.
The site visit on June 23 was led by the Deputy Governor of Son La province, Mr Nguyen Thanh Cong, who is in charge of the province’s economic affairs. The Lao delegation was led by LFND Vice President, Dr Od Phongsavanh, who is a key advisor on economic and development affairs.
During the tour, the delegations visited a Vietnamese grape farmer, who explained the process to the visitors.
The delegations also went to a fruit processing factory, a cattle farm, and a fertiliser factory.
The tour enabled the Lao delegation to learn about modern agricultural methods as well as livestock breeding and the production and processing methods that add value to products so that they earn more revenue when sold.
Huaphan province’s Front for National Development, whose officials were part of the tour, expressed interest in obtaining seeds and seedlings of fruit varieties grown in Son La province so they could grow them in Xiengkhor, Viengxay and Aed districts of Huaphan province.
At the end of the tour, the Lao delegation bought fertiliser and pesticides from a Son La-based fertiliser producer. The two sides also expressed interest in building business connections and cooperation in the future.
In 2019, the provinces of Huaphan and Son La reached several agreements on cooperation in economic development.
The visit by the delegation from the LFND and Huaphan province’s Front aimed to strengthen relations and mutual support in essential areas between the peoples of Laos and Vietnam.
