Acteus Group supports Vientiane Rescue 1623

International company Acteus Group is continuing to aid efforts to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic in Laos.
The group announced on Wednesday that under its Acteus Smiles programme it donated 20,000 N95 face masks and 10,000 pairs of gloves to Vientiane Rescue 1623 (www.vientianerescue.org) on Tuesday 4th May 2021.
Acteus Smiles’ donation will help Vientiane Rescue 1623’s 600 members get basic protection. This generous donation will increase the safety of the frontline workers in Laos.

In an official statement, Acteus Smiles management said, “We are honoured to support Vientiane Rescue 1623. We hope our donation adequately aids their emergency services. We plan to provide them with additional support in the future.”
Acteus Smiles’ regularly donates to community-based organisations such as Vientiane Rescue 1623, through inter-organisational cooperation, striving to improve the lives of people in regions where it operates.
Its focus is on local organisations, and not large international organisations. This ensures investments are quickly realised and have a positive impact on local communities.
Vientiane Rescue 1623 is part of the Lao Foundation for Assisting Poor People of Lao PDR, and a model partner for Acteus Smiles’ social responsibility programme. Their tireless work is embodied in their 2016 Ramon Magsaysay prize.
Founded in 2010, with a handful of volunteers, they are the first in Laos to generously provide emergency and rescue services. Their organisation offers various emergency services, from non-paid volunteers, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This also includes free support to people afflicted by the COVID-19 virus by transporting them from their homes to health care facilities.
Vientiane Rescue 1623’s other national and international emergency responses, includes supporting the 2018 Chiang Rai cave rescue. It sent 3 divers to help the 12 trapped kids. It also assisted in the 2018 Attapeu floods; offering Savannakhet, search and rescue operations and donations; and the transportation of 300 COVID-19 patients in Vientiane. Their dedication is a true testament to safeguarding the welfare of the people of Laos – the essence of true social responsibility.
In 2020, international organisations commended Laos’ early containment efforts to minimise the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Their continued success is due in large part to the strict countrywide lockdown measures they implemented, aided by top-notch emergency and rescue service providers.
Laos’ emergency and rescue service providers are working diligently with hospitals to contain the coronavirus. They follow scientific recommendations and urge wearing face masks, washing hands, and wearing gloves.
A countrywide eradication of the COVID-19 outbreak requires agencies to restock their supply chain. One of the ways this can happen is by engaging international companies that operate in Laos. Their support helps bolster reserves for rescue service providers.
