China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit promotes Laos-China cooperation

Laos and China have achieved incredible results in cooperation in multiple fields in order to deepen the economic and trade exchanges between enterprises from the two countries as well as to explore the cooperation in new fields during the18th China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit (CABIS).

The 18th CABIS kicked off in Nanning, China on Friday. The theme of the 18th CABIS was “Sharing Opportunities Created by the New Land-Sea Corridor, Building the China-ASEAN Community with a Shared Future”. Besides the Opening Ceremony of the 18th CABIS, three activities were held including Round-table Dialogue between State Leader of Laos and CEOs from China, China-ASEAN Business Leaders Forum & Special Meeting on the 30th Anniversary of China-Asean Dialogue Relations, and the Symposium on China-ASEAN Commercial Legal Cooperation.
Deputy Prime Minister of Laos & Minister of the Ministry of Planning and Investment of Laos, Sonexay Siphandone, participated in the Round-table Dialogue between State Leader of Laos and CEOs from China on Friday and delivered an important speech via video.
In the session of dialogue, the relevant officials from the Ministry of Planning and Investment of Laos discussed issues about cooperation and development to promote Laos-China cooperation to a new level with CEOs from Chinese enterprises such as China Southern Power Grid, China Datang Corporation, China State Construction Engineering Group, China Railway International Co., Ltd., and China-ASEAN Information Harbour Co., Ltd.
The Laos-China business cooperation has been moving to the next step while the business cooperation stands as an important part of China-Asean all-round cooperation, and business leaders play a crucial role in the business community.
For this reason, the China-ASEAN Business Leaders Forum came into being in 2010 as an important institutional activity to promote economic and trade exchanges between China and Asean countries under the CABIS framework.
On Friday, the China-Asean Business Leaders Forum & Special Meeting on the 30th Anniversary of China-ASEAN Dialogue Relations was held in Nanning, China. With the aim to promote the win-win cooperation between China and Asean countries, the Forum followed the trend of China-Asean cooperation and served the current key areas of cooperation.
Focusing on the theme of “Building on 30 Years of Achievements, Jointly Opening Up A New Era”, Chinese and foreign representatives reviewed and summarised the achievements of China-ASEAN economic and trade cooperation, and put forward suggestions for the future development for both sides.
“The Business Leaders Forum is an important exchange platform to promote the China-ASEAN trade and economic relations especially between China and Laos. In the future, Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LNCCI) will conduct more cooperation, develop trade and carry out investment projects with China-ASEAN enterprises to benefit all parties.” said online, President of LNCCI, Oudet Souvannavong.
With the signing of Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), the integrated market of regional economy continues advancing. Resolving the commercial disputes in this process by law and building a fair and just business environment have become an important step for China-Asean economic and trade cooperation.
Executive Vice President of LNCCI, Thanongsinh Kanlagna, said that “LNCCI was really pleased to establish Laos-China Committee of Commercial Legal Cooperation together with China,”
“The Committee will strive to resolve trade disputes in friendly ways such as consultation, dialogue, mediation, and negotiation to promote the sound economic and trade development between Laos and China, and even between Laos and Asean countries, and further deepen the economic and trade cooperation between China and Asean countries.
Under the support of CABIS, Laos-China cooperation projects has involved various aspects such as port and shipping, e-commerce, modern agriculture, commerce and logistics, digital economy. Furthermore, with the signing of RCEP, new opportunities of cooperation between Laos and China will arise constantly in the fields of advanced technology and MSMEs. It is believed that CABIS will keep creating new landscapes for Laos-China business and investment cooperation in the future so as to benefit the people of the two countries with the economic and trade fruits.
