KB KOLAO Leasing provides medical supplies for Covid-19 response

Pakxe city in Champassak province will be able to strengthen its response to the Covid-19 outbreak thanks to a contribution of medical equipment and other essential items.
KB KOLAO Leasing has provided the funds for the project, which will be administered by Good Neighbors Laos with regard to various activities relating to the Covid response.

The  fund was handed over in Pakxe city on Wednesday. The event was attended by the Deputy Governor of Champassak province, Mr Som Boudtakoun; KB KOLAO Leasing company CEO, Mr Yi Si-Kyung; Country Director of Good Neighbors Laos, Mr Yongki Choi; and witnessed by officials involved.
“We decided to contribute this money to support Covid response and monitoring in Pakxe city. Even though the number of locally-transmitted Covid cases has fallen, the figure remains relatively high,” Mr Yi Si-Kyung said.
“We have been operating in Pakxe for some time and have been given a warm welcome by customers and local residents here, so we want to give back to society through this donation. We hope this will be a part of supporting society to overcome this difficult time and adapting to a new normal way of life,” he added.
The total of the donated funds on this occasion is almost 460 million kip (US$42,000).
Through Good Neighbours, the funds will be divided into three parts. Some of the money will be used to buy Covid response essentials worth US$34,000, while some will be spent on mobile health education and mobile sample collection.
US$6,000 will be given to district and provincial taskforces for Covid monitoring in local communities and the remainder will be used for official supplies required for related activities.
Speaking at the event, Mr Som Boudtakoun said “This support is in accordance with the needs of local authorities and is a big contribution to the rejuvenation of the economy in Champassak province generally, especially in Pakxe city.”
“On behalf of the provincial governor, I wish to express appreciation to KB KOLAO Leasing for their support through Good Neighbours Laos. I wish the donor and implementing agency good health and success in your work and hope that you will continue to support us and closely collaborate with us in the future.”
Mr Yongki Choi said “It is a great honour to be here as the main implementing partner with KB KOLAO Leasing. Our mission is to make the world a place without hunger, where people live together in harmony.”
“In order to achieve our mission statement, we have a strategic approach called the ‘Community Development Project’, caring not only for children but also for parents as well as vulnerable people.”
“As we all know, the lockdown caused by Covid-19 has created many difficulties. There has been a huge impact on children because of school closures. Furthermore, distance learning has added to the burdens of parents in caring for and tutoring their children in addition to all the other chores they have to deal with at home,” he said.
“People adjust to the new circumstances to combat the coronavirus in our daily lives, such as vaccination, social distancing and so on. KB KOLAO Leasing really wants to support people, especially in Pakxe, for the above reasons. I greatly respect the decision made by KB KOLAO Leasing and the Country Director on behalf of Good Neighbours Laos,” he added.
The KB Financial Group has a total of 13 affiliates including banks, securities, insurance, and capital.
KB KOLAO Leasing operates as Laos Corporation Co., Ltd. of the No. 1 KB Financial Group in South Korea, and recently entered the provincial area for the first time among Korean leasing companies.
Champassak was selected as the first province to enter the region because it borders Vietnam, Cambodia, and Thailand and is an important transport hub and Pakxe is the southern economic centre.
