The Ministry of Science and Technology and Atlantic International Group Sole Co. Ltd have agreed to cooperate in the development of a tourist park dedicated to the study of nature and science.
Last week’s ceremony to sign an agreement on the initiative was attended by Minister of Science and Technology, Prof. Dr Boviengkham Vongdara, along with senior officials from the ministry and invited guests.
The new ‘Science and Botany Park in Keo-oudom district of Vientiane province’ project will focus on educating the public about science and technology and the study of plants.
The new botanic park will comprise five main components: an astronomy centre, forest and medicinal plants garden, scientific knowledge and innovation interpretative centre, and other activities focusing on the benefits of learning about the various fields of science to benefit socio-economic development.
An agreement was signed on Friday by President of the Science Council under the Ministry of Science and Technology, Mrs Keophaivanh Douangsavanh, and President of Atlantic International Group Sole Co., Ltd, Mr Phouvong Souyavong.
Mr Phouvong said the park would implement the Party’s policies that promote national socio-economic development by using science and technology as a driving force, as well as highlighting the uses of plants.
He said the company would provide the budget and facilities for the various activities with the ministry offering technical support through their experts as well as access to scientific-technical information and international cooperation.
The two parties also agreed to work together in the building and development of the science and botanic park according to the plans.

Meanwhile, other forms of cooperation can be proposed and implemented by mutual written consent from both parties.
