French coffee roaster Malongo has committed to buying increasing amounts of coffee over a five-year period from the Vanmai Cooperative in Huaphan province, increasing from 20 tonnes in 2021 to 200 tonnes in 2025. - Mortality rate of mothers remains high: UN report
The maternal death rate dropped by 78 percent between 1990 and 2015, but the number is still high at 185 maternal deaths per 100,000, according to United Nations estimates.
Most deaths result from complications during and following pregnancy and childbirth.
A recent workshop on the issue reviewed the Maternal Death Surveillance and Response report and the goal to reach zero preventable maternal deaths by 2030 through cooperation between the Ministry of Health and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).....More >>>

- Police issue 15 ban rules, prohibit drunk driving over Lao New Year
The General Police Department, Ministry of Public Security recently issued 15 banning rules in regards to the celebration of Lao New Year during April 14-16, included in the 15, drunk drivers are strictly prohibited to ensure road safety, security and orderly traffic.
According to the Ministry’s notice No 12, issued on March 31 informed that drunk drivers are strictly prohibited from driving, notice, if break a rule, authorities will hold you until you feel better, then call relatives or a friend to pick you up.....More >>>
