Officials in some parts of the country are intensifying efforts to contain the Covid-19 outbreak because infections are still spreading in some communities. The Vientiane Taskforce for Covid-19 Prevention and Control will continue to enforce controls until June 19 at least because, although the infection rate is falling, some areas of the city are still reporting cases of the virus. Vientiane authorities will step up efforts to trace people who may be infected and identify others who may have come into contact with infected people so they can be tested for the virus.. ..More >>>

- Obey the Covid rules even though cases are falling, taskforce warns
The National Taskforce for Covid-19 Prevention and Control has warned everyone to continue to strictly comply with virus prevention and control measures even though daily case rates have declined over the past two weeks. Five more cases were announced on Monday, bringing the total to 1,968. Some 1,720 people have been discharged from hospitals and three people have died from the virus.. ....More >>>

Education and sports authorities are advising teachers, students, parents and education officials to be alert to fake news and not to share suspect posts on social media.

The Ministry of Health has been directed to speed up the vaccination programme to ensure 50 percent of the population of Laos gets inoculated by the end of the year. The unexploded ordnance clearance team MAG Lao PDR is continuing work on UXO clearance and recently removed and detonated a 500lb bomb which was uncovered following a landslide in Xieng Khuang province.
