- World Bank highlights opportunities and challenges for Lao economy
The Lao economy is projected to steadily recover in the medium-term, but growth will remain below pre-pandemic levels at 4.5 percent in 2022, according to a new World Bank report. The World Bank’s “Economic Monitor for Laos A Path to Recovery” highlighted the economic outlook and risks that could threaten the growth of the Lao economy in the coming years. ....More >>>

- Medicinal plants provided to treat more Covid patients
The Ministry of Health has sent plant extracts for use in the treatment of early stages of Covid-19, for delivery to 450 patients around the country. Another 300 people in the southern provinces were also provided with plant extracts to help ease their symptoms last week. The move follows successful trials by the Institute of Traditional Medicine under the Ministry of Health, using extracts from plants traditionally used to treat various ailments. .....More >>>

- Covid rule-breakers subject to multimillion kip fines
Vientiane authorities will issue fines up to 10 million kip to entities who infringe the measures put in place to keep Covid-19 in check. The capital’s Taskforce for Covid-19 Prevention and Control recently issued a notice announcing the fines, which will range from 500,000 to 10 million kip depending on the severity of the offence.
