French agency awards employees
Laos' cooperation with the AgenceUniversitaire Francophone (AUF) and the Institute de la Francophonie pour les Maladies Tropicales in Vientiane was a major topic of discussion at a recent ceremony to reward longstanding employees of the AUF.
Ms Julie El Moutaoukil Rousseau was on hand to present “Honourific Working Medals” to seven Lao employees in recognition of their 10 to 15 years of work at the AUF's Vientiane office and to consider the role of the association in Laos.
The ceremony was atte nded by Deputy Minister of Education and Sports, MrKhamphaySisavanh and AUF Head Ms El Moutaoukil Rousseau.
Ms El Moutaoukil Rousseau said that the team did AUF proud and that it was a real honour for the AUF to be able to count on them, their involvement in the AUF's work, and their loyalty.
Each of the seven employees has been working at the AUF in Vientiane for more than 20 years and each has also played an important role in supporting the development of quality French-speaking higher education in Lao universities, the strengthening of French-speaking academic research, and assisting member universities of the AUF network in institutional and organisational reforms aimed at modernising their infrastructure and enhancing their development.
The association also provides a dozen scholarships to students each year who are enrolled in French-speaking undergraduate degrees to enable them to pursue further studies in French-speaking Master's degrees across the Asia-Pacific.
The AUF is involved in the training of professors and other trainers who regularly participate in workshops dealing with French language reinforcement, new teaching methods, digital learning and project management. This training also takes place in the context of their continuing education programme.
Finally, the AUF acts on research and governance by assisting its network of member universities in the creation of undergraduate degrees, master's degrees and PhDs.
The seven recipients of the working medals were MrsSomlethChandara, MrsValyKeoluangkhot, MrsMathsaLouanglath, MrPhilaysakN aphayvong, Mrs VillyPrad ith, MrChanthakhonesoukSouthiedeth and MrsManosoneTraymany, who together made the implementation of multiple AUF academ ic programmes in Laos possible.
The Ins titute de la Francophonie pour les Maladies Tropicales was created in 2000 by the AgenceUniversitaire Francophone in Vientiane to focus on tropical medicine and provide Francophone students with high-level training over a two-year period, culminating in an international Master's degree in Tropical Medicine.
