Laos, India further enhance trade, investment, tourism cooperation

Laos and Indian businesses are committed to further enhancing their trade, investment and tourism cooperation.

This was the message highlighted when Minister to the Prime Minister's Office, Mr Alounkeo Kittikhoun, met with a delegation from the Asean-India Business Council (AIBC) in Vient iane last week, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The delegation was led by the Chief Minister of Manipur, India, Mr Shri N Biren Singh.

During the meeting,Mr Shri revealed the outcome of the AIBC meeting to commemorate the 25th Anniversary of Asean-India Dialogue Relations, held in Vientiane on August 7.

The meeting gave Asean and Indian businesses the opportunity to exchange views and promote trade, investment and tourism.

During the talks, Mr Alounkeo said he highly valued the process of mutually beneficial economic engagement between India and the Asean region, especially in the areas of economic integration and Asean connectivity.

They expressed their resolve to support Asean countries and India in developing an ambitious agenda to enhance trade and investment while recognising that Asean and India have undergone significant economic transformations over time.

Trade and investment flows between the two sides have strengthened over the years and expanded to encompass common interests in economic relations.
