Laos, Vietnam affirm continuing cooperation in national solidarity

Laos and Vietnam have affirmed their continued partnership in maintaining national solidarity and development through the sharing of information and experiences.
This was the outcome of a recent meeting between high-level officials from both countries when the President of the Lao Front for National Development, Dr Xaysomphone Phomvihane, led a delegation from the Front on a visit to Vietnam last week.
Dr Xaysomphone and his delegation visited the Secretary General of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Nguyen Phu Trong, at the Party Central Committee Office in Hanoi.
He briefed Secretary General Nguyen Phu Trong on the achievements of the cooperation between the Lao Front for National Development and the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee (PCC)’s Commission for Mass Mobilisation, and Vietnam Fatherland Front.
Dr Xaysomphone said the Lao Front would cooperate more closely with the two organs of the Communist Party of Vietnam in the implementation of the agreements they had signed.
He thanked Vietnam for the timely and productive assistance offered by Vietnam in the past and currently, especially material assistance for the people affected by floods caused by the dam collapse in Sanamxay district, Attapeu province. Secretary General Nguyen Phu Trong stressed the importance of mass mobilisation in the current era and hoped that the two sides would enhance their cooperation by sharing their theories and practices, especially in the mobilisation work of each party, and in personnel development.
He especially stressed the education of the nations’ youth as a tradition of the special Vietnam-Laos ties.
In receiving the Lao delegation led by Dr Xaysomphone, Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said the Communist Party, government and people of Vietnam were ready to cooperate and assist the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP), government and people of Laos in any situation.
Based on that principle, the Vietnamese Prime Minister proposed that the two sides enhance cooperation in implementing high-level agreements, cooperation plans between the two governments as well as the cooperation plans between the Lao Front for National Development, Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee (PCC)’s Commission for Mass Mobilisation, and Vietnam Fatherland Front.
The prime minister stressed the importance of work in mass mobilisation, ethnicity, and religion for the development mission of the two countries. During the meeting between the Lao Front for National Development led by Dr Xaysomphone and the PCC’s Commission for Mass Mobilisation led by the Commission Head, Ms Truong Thi Mai, the two sides discussed several issues relating to the mobilisation work of each party and their future cooperation while emphasising the enhancement of information exchange.
Dr Xaysomphone, representing the LPRP and the Lao government, presented awards to the leaders of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Vietnamese government to mark the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations and 40th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation between the two countries. The treaty was signed in 1977. Dr Xaysomphone presented the Issara (Liberation) Order First Class to the President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Mr Tran Thanh Man.
