| SEA Games Council to monitor preparations
The Lao 2009 SEA Games Organising Committee will meet with SEA Games Council members next week, who will come to Vientiane to monitor the city's preparations for the games.
The committee met on Tuesday to prepare for the meeting with the games' supervising body. The meeting was chaired by Lao National Sports Committee Vice President, Mr Somphou Phongsa.
The meeting with the council members will run from November 11-13 and will also be attended by representatives of various Southeast Asian sporting bodies.
Participants will discuss progress on preparations for the games, which will take place in December 2009, as well as technical aspects and the rules for each sport scheduled for the competition.
The meeting will also confirm the exact number of sports to be included in the games and television broadcasting rights for participating countries.
Laos has selected 27 sports for the games. These are billiards, snooker, swimming, diving, tennis, golf, petanque, sepak takraw, wrestling, track and field, shuttlecock, volleyball, beach volleyball, table tennis, taekwondo, shooting, kick-boxing, karatedo, badminton, rugby, boxing, football, futsal, judo, boat racing, wushu and pencak silat.
