Laos, Vietnam pledge continued media cooperation

Laos and Vietnam will continue cooperation in the areas of media, printing and personnel development, as well as in information and communications.
An agreement on the continuation of cooperation was signed in Vientiane recently by Laos’ Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism, Prof. Dr Bosengkham Vongdara, and Vietnam’s Minister of Information and Communications, Mr Nguyen Manh Hung, during a visit to Laos from March 11-13 by a delegation from the Vietnamese ministry.

The two countries reviewed the success of their cooperation in information, culture and tourism over previous years, thePathetlao Daily newspaper reported yesterday.
Prof. Dr Bosengkham said cooperation between Laos and Vietnam had been an important contribution to enhancing the friendship and special solidarity between the two countries.
Mr Nguyen Manh Hung promised to continue cooperation with Laos and to further develop the friendship between the two parties and governments and the citizens of Laos and Vietnam.
The two sides discussed future cooperation aimed at strengthening joint efforts by the two ministries in the fields of development, management, and the digitisation of media.
They included setting up a Digital Media Archive Centre, which would serve to manage parties that provide cross-border information content.
Vietnam will continue to expand Laos’ systems and networks and upgrade radio and television stations.
Vietnam will also support Laos in managing press, publishing, broadcasting and foreign information activities and will train Lao management staff in online press management.
The two parties also agreed to organise training courses to improve the skills of Lao journalists and editors.
In addition, the two sides agreed to create conditions for the two countries’  news, publishing, printing and contribution agencies to engage in technology   support and experience sharing.
