Lao Press in Foreign Languages
Vientiane Times, the first English newspaper in the Lao PDR, was officially launched as a weekly tabloid in April 1994. By 1996 it came out twice weekly Tuesdays and Fridays and from 2004 the paper publishes daily Mondays to Fridays and from 2007 the paper publishes Mondays to Saturdays. The newspaper covers a wide range of news stories and provides information reflecting on government policies and socio-economic development in the Lao People's Democratic Republic. Vientiane Times is part of the Lao Press in Foreign Languages, which is a specialised agency of the Ministry of Information and Culture. The press agency is managed by a board of directors and manned by over 60 staff members, including reporters and administrative officials.
