Police targeting hit-and-run drivers in the capital


- US provides additional US$2.5 million to Laos to fight Covid-19
The United States has provided an additional US$2.5 million through the US Agency for International Development (USAID) to support the Covid-19 response in Laos. According to a press release from the US Embassy on Friday, in coordination with the government of Laos, USAID will provide this funding to international organisations working in the country to control the pandemic.

Vientiane traffic police officers are now conducting a campaign to zero in on hit-and-run drivers in the capital following a number of fatal accidents. An official from Vientiane Traffic Police Department of the Ministry of Public Security, Major Detleusa Xayasan told Vientiane Times on Monday that so far this year three drivers involved hit-and-runs have been arrested in the capital with the accidents resulting in three fatalities.
