A second night market at Chao Anouvong Park area in Chanthabouly district, Vientiane along the Mekong riverbank is expected to open soon with many stallholders registering interest in advance, according to authorities. 2. Beware work abroad scams, illegal brokers targeting migrant labour, ministry warns
Labour authorities have issued warnings to the public to beware of people posing as employment brokers that illegally promise to prepare applications to dispatch Lao workers to the Republic of Korea for a fee. 4. Weather bureau warns of heavy rain
The Meteorology and Hydrology Department of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment has warned many regions of the northern and central provinces to be on alert for potential heavy rain during August 10-13.The provinces at risk include Xayaboury, Oudomxay, Luang Prabang, Borikhamxay, Savannakhet and Khammuan, according to a forecast that was part of the daily report issued by the department yesterday. . . 5. That Luang Plaza to open to shoppers later this year
That Luang Plaza, a nearly 100 percent complete shopping centre in Vientiane, is set to lay its welcome mat for traders and shoppers by the end of this year, despite the construction of the building not being carried out as per its plan. The US$-50 million project is 100 percent invested and owned by Chitchareune Construction Company. It is expected to open as a trade and shopping centre nearby the nation's landmark of That Luang Stupa, welcoming tourists and foreign visitors who flock to visit the sacred site. . More >>>
