Road No. 13 North is being upgraded in some places with concrete being laid to replace the existing asphalt surface, while the section between Vientiane and Vientiane province will be widened to a four-lane highway. - Expressway toll rates under review
The management committee of the Vientiane-Vangvieng expressway will review the toll charges on the newly-opened expressway, with the rate charged for pick-up trucks under special consideration following complaints by motorists. An anonymous official told Vientiane Times the expressway management committee, the Ministry of Public Works and Transport and the contractor are considering revising the toll fees and will inform the public of any changes in the middle of this month.. . ....More >>>

- Construction of fifth Lao-Thai bridge link begins
Work on a fifth bridge linking Laos and Thailand across the Mekong River has begun after a construction agreement was signed late last month. The bridge, which will take 36 months to build, will connect Borikhamxay province in Laos to Thailand’s northeastern province of Bueng Kan. Project Director Mr Laythong Phommavong told Vientiane Times on Tuesday that work is currently centred on the site where the bridge and immigration facilities will be built.

- Borikhamxay to upgrade standard of healthcare
Borikhamxay province’s health authorities will provide more information to people, especially those living in remote areas, about the importance of healthcare. This is part of efforts to improve public health services in the provinces in order to fulfil the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) on health. “In 2020, we carried out many improvements in the health sector. Meteorologists are forecasting a further dip in temperatures by 1-3C as well as fog and wind gusts on January 9-10.
