Seventy five more people have tested positive for Covid-19, bringing the total number of known cases in Laos to 511.
According to a report from the National Taskforce Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control issued on April 27, 59 of these cases were reported in Vientiane, four in Vientiane province, one in Bokeo province, one in Xieng Khuang, two in Luang Prabang, and eight in Champassak province. The government is rolling out three specific approaches to prevent the spread of Covid-19, namely the lockdown of Vientiane, tracking of new cases, and requiring everyone to comply with preventive measures such as the wearing of face masks, social distancing, handwashing, and getting vaccinated. Hot weather, thunderstorms forecast across the country
Weather forecasters are predicting hot weather, thunderstorms, gusting winds, hail and rain in many parts of the country until May 2 due to an active low pressure system.
Winds will be west southwesterly and will affect most of the country from April 26 to May 2, according to the Meteorology and Hydrology Department. Temperatures will rise and are expected to hit a maximum of 36C-38C throughout the country. The powerful low pressure system is expected to cause thunderstorms with heavy downpours, strong winds, lightning and hail in many areas, including Vientiane.....More >>>

Many markets and supermarkets in Vientiane are using good practice in measures for Covid-19 prevention but some are still lacking preparation such as hand gels and temperature checkpoints for customers. Turtle meat a rare delicacy in Attapeu
It has been claimed that people who fail to eat the meat of turtles, known as pafa, when visiting Attapeu have not really been to the province. But it turns out that the consumption of turtle meat is not actually common practice in Attapeu and is no longer a part of daily life. Local resident Mr Inta told Vientiane Times on Thursday that he had heard of people telling their friends or visiting guests to go to Attapeu to sample tasty turtle meat. This is usually accompanied by advice to eat turtle meat because it’s really tasty and will fortify the diner.....More >>>
