Lao Association on Dams holds first annual meeting
- Bokeo international airport 75 now percent complete
Construction of an international airport in Tonpheung district, Bokeo province, is now 75 percent complete, with the facility expected to open for domestic use by the end of this year and for international travel soon afterwards.
The new airport is being built to handle an anticipated surge in the number of tourists to the area, especially people visiting the Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone, which contains a number of recreational facilities and attracts visitors from China. 
The new airport is located close to the Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone and covers 300 hectares. It will be the second airport in Bokeo province in addition to the existing small airport located in the provincial capital, Huayxai district. ....More >>>

- Taskforce canvasses public opinion on full reopening of Laos
The National Taskforce for Covid-19 Prevention and Control is seeking input from people of all walks of life, including foreign nationals, over the proposed reopening of the country’s borders to all Lao and foreign citizens.
The taskforce issued a notice on April 29 soliciting opinions from all state and business entities and the general public, including foreign expatriates in Laos, on the proposed move.
Comments can be sent in writing to the taskforce’s secretariat at the Prime Minister’s Office or online at www.laogov.gov.la, www.covid-19.gov.la, the Facebook page of the Centre of Information and Education for Health, or emailed to [email protected] or [email protected] before May 3. ..More >>>

A project to improve vegetable production using clean methods of cultivation has kicked off in Hadxaifong district.
The objective of the scheme is to increase the amount of vegetables produced for domestic consumption and export, and at the same time reduce the quantity of produce that is currently imported.
