- Laos exports first 50 tonnes of rice to EU
Laos has exported its first 50 tonnes of rice to the European Union, giving farmers new hope of boosting their incomes and earning more foreign currency for Laos. The first shipment of the Thadokkham-8 (TDK8) rice variety is being sold to Belgium by Champahom Trading Import-Export Sole Co., Ltd., according to Lao National Television. The sale is part of a project to promote rice production for commercial purposes under the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, supported by a loan from the World Bank.

- Woman with Covid safely gives birth to baby
Doctors at the Friendship Hospital in Vientiane have safely delivered a baby born to a woman who had contracted Covid-19. Because the woman has the virus she now has to remain apart from her family following delivery, as she must self-isolate for 14 days. A medical worker at the hospital who asked not to be named said the delivery was carried out in accordance with guidelines issued by the World Health Organisation regarding pregnant women and new mothers with Covid.....More >>>

Authorities in Huaphan, Xiengkhuang and Phongsaly provinces are imposing lockdowns to keep Covid-19 at bay.
Anyone living in a green zone and needing to enter Huaphan must have had two doses of a Covid vaccine and spend 14 days in the Huaphan provincial quarantine centre upon arrival in the province.
