A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on Wednesday to kick off the feasibility study for the project which, if approved, will span 13,502 hectares in 24 villages in the districts of Samakkhixay, Xaysettha, and Sanamxay.
The initiative is designed as an integrated agricultural solution, implementing “2+3” and “1+4” production models to combine crop cultivation, such as grass for animal feed, with livestock farming, including cattle, sheep, and goats. Key objectives of the project include integrated production, such as leveraging modern techniques to promote sustainable crop and livestock farming; economic development, involving providing stable employment and long-term income opportunities for local farmers; food security, through enhancing local food supply, reducing reliance on imports, and setting the foundation for future exports; and sustainability, by elevating agricultural standards through environmentally conscious practices.
The MoU was signed in Attapeu, witnessed by the province’s Deputy Governor Mr Thanousay Bunchalit and representatives from Gobendokkam Green Energy-Agriculture Group Co., Ltd.
This partnership represents a significant step forward in developing a modern, comprehensive, and sustainable agricultural sector in Attapeu province, with long-term benefits for local communities and the national economy.
