Government and company officials cut a ribbon at the project groundbreaking ceremony in Vientiane.


Vientiane Venice City to invest US$100 million in agro-tourism in Hadxaifong district


Vientiane Venice City Sole Co., Ltd. will invest US$100 million in modern agricultural development projects linked to nature-based tourism, trade and services in Nongvaeng village in Hadxaifong district, Vientiane.
A groundbreaking ceremony for the project took place on Tuesday, attended by Vientiane Vice Mayor Mr Sirilaththongsin Thongpheng; the Governor of Hadxaifong district, Mr Bounpheng Sinavongphone; Head of the Vientiane Investment Promotion and Management Committee Office, Mr Thanongxay Khoutphaythoune; Director of the Vientiane Finance Department, Dr Bouavone Souklaseang; the Managing Director of Vientiane Venice City Sole Co., Ltd., Mr Khamphet Philavong; relevant government officials and company representatives.

The project will contribute to the socio-economic development of Vientiane and generate income and job opportunities for the people in rural areas, project manager Mr Sayadeth Chanthalath said.
The company signed a land concession agreement on June 15, 2021, with the Vientiane Administration Office represented by the Vientiane Planning and Investment Department, involving an area of more than 70 hectares for project development, he added.
“Then, the developer or the company was established in accordance with the laws of Laos, receiving an Enterprise Registration Certificate in 2022, with its office located in Oupmoung village, Sikhottabong district, Vientiane, which project is located in Nongvaeng village with investment by Vientiane Venice City Sole Co., Ltd.

The project will be rolled out in the villages of Nongvaeng, Somsanouk, Donedou, Somvang Neua and Tay, under a 50-year land concession.
The project will support the Party and government’s policies and plans for the socio-economic development of Vientiane, helping to achieve set targets, Mr Sayadeth said.
The initiative will involve the development of a modern agricultural production area, nature-based tourism, trade and services, attracting both Lao and foreign tourists.
It will also support local investment and enable small and medium-sized businesses to generate income for Vientiane and the government.
Job opportunities will be created and people will be able to earn higher incomes through project participation, gradually improving the lives of local communities, Mr Sayadeth said.
“After the company received permission to invest in the project’s development from 2021 to 2025, we received approval of the feasibility study from the Vientiane Culture and Tourism Department,” he added.
The company also received approval of the detailed Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Report and Environmental Management and Monitoring Plan from the Department of Environment, Ministry of Agriculture and Environment.
In addition, the company was granted an investment licence by the Vientiane Investment Promotion and Management Committee Office.
To date, the company has cleared and levelled land and improved 1.5 kilometres of canals, built 15 ponds (Nongvaeng), completed the construction of infrastructure, entrances and exits and some roads within the project area, built a field office and staff dormitories, and planted ornamental and fruit trees.
The company has also paid out compensation amounting to 1.4 billion kip to most of the families living in the project area.
The project developer has signed a contract hiring a consulting company to formulate a master plan and detailed project design.
To ensure the project is a success, the company has requested active and close cooperation from every level of government during implementation of the scheme, especially during the development phase and in mediating with people in the project area.
