Party Central Committee reviews development progress
The 11th Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party convened its 11th Plenary Congress on Tuesday to deliberate key national issues and review the country’s development agenda.
The meeting was chaired by Party Secretary General and State President Thongloun Sisoulith, who emphasised the importance of unity, stability, and continued reform in addressing Laos’ current challenges.
Senior Party leaders, government officials, and members of the Party Central Committee gathered to assess development progress.
The Congress focused on the implementation of the resolutions of the 11th Party Congress and the 9th five-year National Socio-Economic Development Plan, and was linked to the holding of the Party Congresses of ministries, other government bodies, and provinces.
The Party Central Committee also discussed the celebration of the 50th National Day on December 2 and the 105th anniversary of the birth of President Kaysone Phomvihane on December 13.
Also on the agenda was the 12th National Games, known as the “Vientiane Games 2025”, which will take place in the capital from November 15-25.
The discussions laid the groundwork for the 12th Party Congress, scheduled to take place in early 2026.
The Congress discussed the evaluation of the 2025 socio-economic development plan, budget plan and monetary plan, and directions and plans for 2026.
It concluded the implementation of two national agendas, one aimed at resolving the country’s economic and financial difficulties and the other targeting the burgeoning drug trade.
The meeting also evaluated the success of efforts to strengthen the Party and its cadres, as well as fulfilment of the resolution of the 11th National organisational work conference and future direction.
In addition, the meeting evaluated the implementation of national defence, security, and foreign affairs matters in 2025.
President Thongloun said all Party committees should be politically responsible, bold in their thinking, decisive in their proposals, and provide guidance on important issues, so that the Congress fulfilled the set goals.
