Lao Brewery helps keep Laos’ boat racing heritage alive with over 4 billion kip in support
For generations, traditional boat racing festivals have brought Lao communities together in a celebration of cultural identity, unity and shared heritage. This cherished tradition continues to thrive with support from Lao Brewery Company (LBC), which has contributed more than 4 billion kip to boat racing celebrations across Laos in 2026.
The company's financial and product contributions support festivals in Vientiane and several provinces, helping preserve one of the country's most treasured cultural traditions while creating opportunities for tourism and local businesses.
Held in connection with the end of Buddhist Lent, traditional boat racing festivals are among the highlights of Laos' cultural calendar. They bring together families, friends and communities to celebrate customs and values passed down through generations.
Beyond the excitement of competition on the water, the festivals reflect a deep connection between the Lao people, their rivers and their cultural heritage.
Recognising this significance, Lao Brewery Company has continued its role as a main sponsor of boat racing celebrations, supporting organisers and local communities in keeping the tradition vibrant.

This year's sponsorship covers major celebrations along the Mekong riverfront at Vat Chan and in Chomchaeng in Vientiane, as well as events in Pakxan district of Borikhamxay province, Thakhaek district of Khammuan province, Kaysone Phomvihane city in Savannakhet province, and Pakxe city in Champassak province.
The company has also extended support to festivals in Thoulakhom district of Vientiane province, Xayaboury municipality and other locations nationwide.
The broad geographical coverage reflects an effort to ensure that communities across the country can continue celebrating a tradition that remains an important part of Lao cultural life.
For Lao Brewery Company, the sponsorship represents more than financial assistance. It is also an expression of appreciation for the longstanding relationship between the company and the Lao people.
Managing Director of Lao Brewery Company, Mr Henrik Andersen, highlighted the cultural and emotional significance of the company's continued support.

For more than 50 years, the people of Laos have shown Beerlao their love and trust. Our support is a heartfelt expression of gratitude for that enduring relationship. We are proud to play a part in keeping smiles alive, strengthening unity and ensuring that this beautiful heritage remains part of Lao life for generations to come.”
Beyond their cultural importance, boat racing festivals also contribute to local economic activity by attracting visitors and creating opportunities for traders, food vendors, service providers and other small businesses.

The gatherings offer domestic and international tourists an opportunity to experience Lao traditions, while helping generate income for residents and entrepreneurs in host communities.
By supporting festivals across the country, Lao Brewery Company is helping connect cultural preservation with community participation, tourism promotion and local economic opportunities.
As Laos continues to celebrate its rich cultural heritage, such contributions highlight the importance of cooperation between businesses and communities in sustaining traditions.
For the thousands of people who gather along riverbanks to cheer on racing crews, the festivals remain more than sporting competitions. They are occasions to celebrate belonging, strengthen community bonds and pass a cherished part of Lao identity to the next generation.
