Laos focus green on EXPO 2025 Osaka

The design of Laos’s national exhibition hall at the Expo 2025 at Osaka in Japan will focus on the theme of “Green Growth Economy Towards Sustainable Development”.
The Director of the Trade Promotion and Handicraft Department, Mr Vithoun Sithimorada, reported recently to the Minister of Industry and Commerce,  Malaythong Kommasith, on preparations for participating in the global expo at the third national steering committee meeting.
Mr Vithoun said the hall will be a presentation on the “National Green Growth Strategy of the Lao PDR until 2030”, which is one of the government’s policies, as expressed in the vision until 2030, the 10-year strategy for 2016-2025, and the  National Socio-Economic Development Plan related to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
In line with the main theme of the World Expo, “Designing Future for Our Lives”, the contents of the Lao national exhibition hall will focus on presenting content that shows the outstanding state of green economic development in a sustainable direction through the presentation on “Green Agriculture Development”.
Green industry and a sustainable production chain, green investment, conservation tourism linked to nature, and presenting Laos’s international cooperation and works linked to electronic commerce development will also be part of the focus.
In order to make the visitors aware about the green economic development policy for Laos’s sustainable development, the national exhibition hall will be divided into five areas that will present information and images on each wall.
These presentations will provide information on strategies and goals for sustainable green development; the results of sustainable green development, sustainable agricultural development projects, green industry projects, clean energy projects and eco-friendly tourism projects; green and sustainable products; and the Laos’s future plans for a sustainable green economy.
During the expo, a Lao Day event will be held on July 9, 2025. This will include activities such as the official celebration agenda at the Expo national Hall, and Lao traditional art performances on various platforms.
A Lao Day parade, visits to the national exhibition halls of neighbouring countries and strategic partners, a Lao Day party, and meetings to promote trade, investment and tourism will also be part of the celebrations.
The Laos IP Week will be organised during April 26-May 2, 2025, and the Laos GI Week during July 12-18, 2025 l. There will also be events to commemorate the Laos Coffee Week and to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Laos-Japan diplomatic relations during July 5-11, 2025.
