PM to spearhead ASEAN Future Forum in Hanoi

In a significant move towards regional integration and cooperation, Laos’ Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone will lead a high-level delegation attending the ASEAN Future Forum, scheduled for April 23 in Hanoi, Vietnam.
The forum, which takes the theme “Towards Fast and Sustainable Growth of a People-Centered ASEAN Community,” will see Dr Sonexay, representing Laos as the current Chair of ASEAN, engage in pivotal discussions aimed at fostering a cohesive and dynamic ASEAN business community in the digital era.
The Prime Minister will co-chair a session on harmonising ASEAN’s business sector with digital advancements, alongside prominent business leaders and research institutions.
This visit also sets the stage for a crucial bilateral meeting with Vietnam’s Prime Minister, Pham Minh Chinh, to further strengthen the ties and collaborative efforts between Laos and Vietnam.
The ASEAN Future Forum is envisioned as a platform for Track 1.5 dialogue, bringing together various stakeholders for open and constructive discussions on the bloc’s trajectory.
The mission aligns with ASEAN’s goals of resilience and inclusivity, ensuring that the association remains responsive to the evolving regional and global landscape while staying true to its founding principles.
As ASEAN prepares for the upcoming UN Summit of the Future, the forum will delve into the organisation’s role and influence, brainstorming innovative solutions and actionable strategies to uphold ASEAN’s commitment to peace, security, and development across the region.
