Students from Laos attend the Mathematics and English Olympiad in Australia.

Lao students proud winners of gold medals at int’l contest

Lao school students picked up two gold medals, six silver medals and six bronze medals at the Mathematics and English Olympiad, held in Sydney, Australia, from April 14 to 21.
More than 4,000 participants from 32 countries took part in the competition.
The Lao team of 21 people comprised students, teachers, and parents.
Students from the International School of Laos were awarded two gold, four silver and five bronze medals in the mathematics competition and one bronze medal in English. Phonsavanh School students won two silver medals in mathematics.
One of the students from the International School of Laos, Nidtiphoum Chaleunxay, was awarded a special prize as the highest scorer in mathematics.
The IMEC and JEO competitions are organised by the Australian company NextEd and take part in two stages consisting of local and global rounds. 
The local rounds took place online and were completed by February this year. Only the winners of the local rounds were invited to the global round of the competition in Sydney.
In total, more than 4,800 students from 32 countries participated in the IMEC and JEO competitions, which are organised by NextEd (an Australian company).
