Finance officials join representatives from Enterprise Lottery Development Company and Insee Trading to introduce an improved lottery format and prize structure aimed at increasing government revenue and reducing the sale of illegal lottery tickets. The announcement was made at a press conference held in Vientiane on May 9 in Vientiane. With lottery draws now scheduled every Tuesday and Thursday, the initiative aims to offer a legal and attractive alternative to unauthorised foreign lotteries, which currently operate without government approval or benefit to the state. Officials say the upgraded lottery—with simplified number selection and a maximum prize of 3 billion kip—will help improve public participation while contributing to national revenue. By modernising the system and offering more frequent draws, the government expects to better regulate the sector and ensure that profits support national development efforts. Results will be broadcast live on Lao National Television and through official online platforms.
