US-based private company eyes develop more skilled technicians for technology solutions

Laos is poised to emerge as a key regional hub for gaming technology thanks to a collaboration between a Laos-born business owner and the US-based global gaming firm AA Slots and its Lao partner Kairos.
The initiative, unveiled at an event on May 17, aims to transform Laos into a centre for production and distribution of electronic gaming equipment across Southeast Asia.

The CEO of AA Slots, Mr Anneck Ackasone, speaks to the local media about his goals at an event in on May 17.

AA Slots and Kairos, backed by more than 20 years of combined industry experience, plan to establish a regulated manufacturing industry anchored by a dedicated technology and manufacturing park.
The initiative is expected to boost economic development, create high-skilled jobs, attract foreign direct investment, and enhance Laos’ standing in the ASEAN gaming tech market.
Speaking at the launch, the CEO of AA Slots, Mr Anneck Ackasone, told the local media that his goal is to invest in electronic solutions related to repairs and supply of parts for the gaming technology sector.
“We are thinking about gaming solutions or technology supplies, not to encourage gaming, or matters related to creating slot machines,” he said, stressing a commitment to skill development and job creation for young Lao people.
He said his renowned company in the US intends to develop more domestic technicians to supply skilled labour and minimise the hiring of foreign technicians, thus creating sustainable employment for locals.
“We’d like to promote the development of more skilled Lao technicians and to advance specific skills needed by the market. I believe the Lao people can do it by producing and handling technology such as laptops, LEDs, cameras and other items,” he said.
Mr Anneck said the young generation will be equipped with techniques and skills.
“Lao people should be prioritised in learning the new technology by hiring foreign experts or engineers to teach and train them, and they will also do internships at the AA Slots headquarters in the US,” he said.
Key elements of the project include a transparent regulatory framework, international certification through bodies such as GLI and BMM Testlabs, and a strong focus on training, education and scholarships.
The initiative includes community investments in healthcare and education, and environmental measures through corporate social responsibility (CSR) funding.
Financial sustainability will be supported through licencing fees, payroll and profit taxes, and CSR levies on local sales.
The project is being rolled out in phases, with an emphasis on transparent governance and community safeguards.
“We’re now approaching the public sector for considering our goals, and also looking to cooperate with local educational institutions,” he said.
