Mr Jaewon Lee, the CEO of GreenGoods Co Ltd, a leading social enterprise dedicated to sustainable agriculture, donated a Kubota L4018SP tractor to the Acting Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, National University of Laos (NUOL), Assoc Prof Vannaphone Phutthana, on Monday. This marked the first donation of a tractor in the school’s 50-year history and symbolised a strong commitment to advancing agricultural education and research in Laos. The donation is part of GreenGoods’ broader ESG (environmental, social, governance) strategy, which emphasises inclusive growth, local capacity building and climate-resilient food systems. By equipping the faculty with modern machinery, GreenGoods aims to strengthen practical training opportunities for students and support innovation in Lao agriculture. |

Mrs Beng Du Maniar, spouse of the Singaporean Ambassador to Laos, presents school supplies to a talented Lao student during the quiz activity held as part of the celebration of the 100th International Children’s Day and the 45th National Arbor Day. Hosted a colourful celebration by the National Library on June 3 to mark the 100th International Children’s Day and the 45th National Arbor Day. Primary schools in Vientiane joined the event, accompanied by teachers, parents, government officials, and international guests. The programme featured games, quizzes, storytelling, cultural performances, and prize presentations aimed at encouraging creativity and a love for reading. Distinguished guests included representatives from the Asia Foundation, the National Library of Laos, and Mrs Beng Du Maniar, spouse of the Singaporean Ambassador to Laos, who also supported the Singapore-Lao English Reading Corner. The celebration was organised by the National Library with generous support from the Asia Foundation and other partners. |

The China Cultural Centre in Laos held a special cultural event on June 1 to mark the Dragon Boat Festival, also known as Duanwu Jie, and the International Children’s Day that was joined by more than 200 participants, including children and their parents. The event featured a Zisha (purple clay) pottery workshop that gave people hands-on experience with one of China’s traditional art forms. In addition to pottery-making, the event included a fashion show, musical performances, theatrical plays, and various interactive activities that were all presented by children. |
