The film “Two for Life, Not Counting the Dog” is screened at the Vientiane Center Cinema on Friday to mark Russia Day. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to Laos, Sergey V. Zhestkii, delivered a welcome speech. Leaders of the Lao Party and government, cadets at the Kaysone Phomvihane Military Academy, and local dignitaries attended as guests of honour. Film festivals and special screenings reflecting contemporary Russian cinema, as well as performances by Russian creative groups, have become a tradition in Laos. Such cultural events help to strengthen the bonds of friendship between the peoples of Russia and Laos by enhancing mutual understanding.

The Ministry of Education and Sports and the World Bank in Laos hold a meeting from June 8-12 to review the progress of the Global Partnership for Education Phase III – Learning and Equity Acceleration Project. The meeting, which ended on Friday, was chaired by Deputy Minister of Education and Sports, Dr Daravone Kittiphanh, bringing together senior officials from the Ministry of Education and Sports, the World Bank and other development partners, and technical specialists involved in the project. The meeting evaluated the outcomes of activities undertaken in the first six months of 2026. The project seeks to improve learning outcomes in selected primary schools, strengthen teacher capacity, and support overall national education reform.
