Yoga enthusiasts gather for an event hosted by the Embassy of India in Vientiane on Saturday to mark the 11th International Day of Yoga at the ASEAN Palace building, with more than 1,000 people from across Vientiane taking part. The theme for this year was “Yoga for One Earth, One Health”. Leading up to the main event, yoga sessions were also organised by the Embassy in other parts of Laos, including Vangvieng, Luang Prabang, Champassak and Savannakhet. International Day of Yoga has been observed following the United Nations’ adoption of India’s proposal in 2014. |

Lao alumni who pursued studies in France last week attend the third edition of Alumni Day at the French Embassy in Vientiane, to celebrate international graduates of French higher education institutions around the world. Bringing together about 100 Lao alumni who studied in France, the event was themed "Talents to Change the World". The embassy’s Chargé d'Affaires said student mobility remains a long-term priority for the French Embassy, with over 400,000 euros allocated annually to support French-language education in Laos and higher education studies in France. |

The Sookmyung UNESCO UNITWIN Women in Digital and Entrepreneurship Programme takes place at Souphanouvong University in Luang Prabang province. The event was co-organised by Souphanouvong University and the Asia Pacific Women’s Information Network Centre of Sookmyung Women’s University in the Republic of Korea. It brought together 40 female students from six faculties, teaching them about the importance of ICT applications and entrepreneurship skills. At the close of the workshop, eight students were selected to attend an advanced workshop in Korea in November. |

Members of the Patukham Microfinance Institution on Saturday meet with the Director of Supchaleun Farm, Mr Anousack Keochaleun, in Xaythany district, Vientiane, to discuss modern fish farming methods, as part of the Patukham Loan Member Empowerment Project, supported by the Lao PDR Access to Finance Fund. The project aims to build the capabilities of microfinance institution members through practical training and study tours. Another highlight of the initiative was the recent Modern Cattle Farming field trip, designed to teach farmers about advanced methods to boost productivity and sustainable agricultural practices. |
