LXML awards 470m kip loan to boost sustainable agriculture in Vilabouly district
August 1, 2025 -- Lane Xang Minerals Limited Company (LXML) has granted a 470-million-kip revolving loan to support a sustainable agriculture initiative in Vilabouly district, Savannakhet province, under the 2025 Sepon Community Trust Fund.
A formal contract signing and handover ceremony took place on August 1 at a black pepper and orange farm in Kokmak village, Vilabouly district. The agreement was made between the Local Development Revolving Fund Committee of Vilabouly district (the project owner), LXML (the funder), and the family of Mrs Sonethai Veunkeo, the selected loan recipient.
The four-year low-interest loan will support the development of black pepper and orange plantations covering 18,994 square metres.
The project includes 1,075 black pepper plants, 560 orange trees, a water pump, a black pepper grinder, and a small house to support agricultural operations.

The ceremony was chaired by the Deputy Governor of Vilabouly district, Mr Phaymany Vongsaykham, and co-chaired by the Senior Superintendent of Community Relations and Development at LXML, Mr Ounkeo Pathammavong.
Attendees included members of the Revolving Fund Committee, Kokmak village authorities, the Veunkeo family, and other stakeholders.
This initiative is part of a broader effort to establish model agricultural households and promote sustainable livelihoods in the region.
Head of the District Agriculture and Forestry Office, Mr Sengdavan Phoutthasy, said “This loan will enable the black pepper and orange farm to serve as a learning centre and a model for expanding crop production. The project is expected to improve household incomes and encourage other families to pursue similar ventures.”
Mr Phaymany expressed appreciation to LXML, saying “This initiative not only supports one family’s livelihood but also highlights the district’s potential for sustainable commercial agriculture. It sets a positive example for community-based economic development.”
Mr Ounkeo added: “LXML is proud to support Vilabouly district’s efforts to strengthen community livelihoods. By partnering with local authorities, we aim to empower community members, local residents, families, and civil servants who have contributed meaningfully to society by providing them with opportunities to build sustainable income through innovation.”
Since 2003, LXML has contributed over US$14 million to local socio-economic development through its Community Trust Fund. The company has also established a no-interest loan programme to support underprivileged families, contributing an additional US$3.5 million to date.
This revolving loan project reaffirms LXML’s long-standing commitment to inclusive, sustainable economic growth and community development in Laos.
