The donation was made in cooperation with the international health NGO Medipeace and the Centre for Medical Rehabilitation (CMR). An official handover ceremony, held at the Lao National Rehabilitation Centre on August 29, was attended by the beneficiary children, their families, and medical staff.
The devices, which include three standing frames, 20 posterior walkers, five corner chairs, and two walking frames, were supplied to children with congenital cerebral palsy and those who sustained brain injuries in traffic accidents.
SEOIL launched the initiative in July with the delivery of three units and gradually increased its support, providing a total of 30 devices by the end of August. The families expressed joy and gratitude as they saw their children stand and move for the first time with the new equipment.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Director General of the CMR, Mrs Siathone Phoummavong, said this donation will make a significant difference to the lives of children with disabilities.
“On behalf of the Centre for Medical Rehabilitation, Ministry of Health, I would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to SEOIL E&M Co Ltd, through NGO Medipeace, for their generous support. The assistive devices will help improve the quality of life of people with physical impairments, enabling them to overcome barriers and reducing the burden on their families,” she said.
The equipment is expected to have a tangible impact on children’s rehabilitation by enhancing basic mobility, increasing independence in daily life, and easing the responsibilities of caregivers.
